Safe Drive Stay Alive 2008
Pigeon Media Solutions were once again involved with a hard-hitting road safety initiative this month. Aimed at S5 pupils in Aberdeenshire, Aberdeen and Moray to drive home the dangers of driving, 5,500 people attended the Safe Drive Stay Alive event which is organised by the Aberdeenshire Community Safety Partnership. This is the fourth year the graphic multimedia show has been staged in the north-east, leaving a lasting impression with previous audiences, and PMS have been involved with all of them . The event took place at the Beach Ballroom, Aberdeen on Tuesday, November 4 and ran until Friday, November 7 with an evening session open to the public on Thursday, November 6. Groups of pupils from across the north-east experienced a chilling ride as a re-enactment of a crash involving a group of young people is shown. The film was spattered with talks from people affected by such incidents - emergency services, victims and the bereaved - they spoke openly about their feelings, experiences and life afterwards.
The show was a chance for Pigeon Media Solutions to invest in a new Video-Mixing Desk, upgrading from a Edirol V-4 Vision Mixer by Roland to a V-8 , which allowed the AV team to use more video and audio channels during the show. In turn, this increased video coverage of the show, and allowed the use of additional media resources, such as two laptops and a backup DVD player all with their own dedicated audio channels. This was the 4th year PMS was involved with the Safe Drive Stay Alive campaign, and again, from a technical point of view, the week went without a hitch.
Pigeon Media Solutions have been contracted for the fifth year in a row, for the 2009 event. Well done us !
A comment from William Munro, Chairman for Aberdeenshire Community Safety Partnership:
“There can be no doubt that the messages got through to all those who saw the shows, especially the 5000+ young people. The production was professional and effective, a tribute to the teamwork, commitment and energy of everyone involved. Well done to everyone, and heartfelt thanks for all that you have done for Safe Drive Stay Alive in 2008.
“The feedback we received was very encouraging and many parents and children felt that the performance really made them stop and think. The recent fatalities involving schoolchildren alighting from buses also portrays the importance of educating our young people to the importance of road safety. Too many young lives are being lost on our roads and if this initiative can make people stop and think about their driving and save just one life then it will have made our efforts worthwhile.”
